University of Trier, Campus 1
Campus 1 is situated in the Tarforst district, nestled on a hill in the eastern part of Trier. It's easily accessible by public transport within a few minutes. The campus comprises numerous buildings housing various faculties, offering a diverse range of lecture halls and classrooms in different sizes. However, you don't need to worry about getting lost, as we will primarily be based in the "A"-building throughout the program.

The campus has also excellent parking possibilities for a lot of cars. They are free of charge.
Trier: Germany's oldest city
Trier is the oldest city in the country, boasting a rich history dating back to Roman times. It is a charming city with well-preserved Roman ruins, including the Porta Nigra, a massive Roman gate, and the impressive remains of the Roman baths.
Beyond its Roman heritage, Trier offers a blend of historical and modern attractions. Visitors can explore the Dom St. Peter and wander through the picturesque Hauptmarkt, the city's main square. Trier is also known for its vibrant cultural scene and its excellent wines.

Transport (in Trier)
All ISSEP participants will receive a travel pass for the entire conference period at the registration desk on Monday morning. This pass grants free access to the entire VRT public transport network, including all buses and trains. All busses to and from the university (bus stops "Universität", "Universität Süd") are listed below.

For transportation at any time of day, Portazon offers a Smart-Shuttle service that provides convenient, point-to-point transport. A valid travel ticket is required, and the service can be booked for an additional fee of 2.50 EUR. This option is ideal for late arrivals or early departures. Trip to Trier
You can reach Trier via different trains. Here you can find a selection of trains from Luxembourg Airport and Frankfurt Airport.
Please note: Tickets should be purchased in advance via bahn.de. For regional trains and buses, tickets are not linked to specific departures and can be used on any connection for the selected travel date.
From Luxembourg
Luxembourg offers free public transportation, including trams, buses, and trains. There are two convenient options to reach Trier:
- Bus 29: This bus runs from the Airport to Luxembourg's main train station, where two direct trains to Trier depart every hour. Train tickets (5 EUR) can be purchased from the conductor.
- Bus 302: Running Monday to Friday from 12:30 PM to 8:30 PM, this bus travels once an hour directly from the Airport to Trier's main station. Tickets (3 EUR) can be bought from the driver.
From Frankfurt
Frankfurt is one of the world's most connected airports. There are two common routes to reach Trier:
- Via Idar-Oberstein: Take the RE3 train from Frankfurt Airport to Idar Oberstein, then switch to bus 800, which will take you directly to Trier main station.
- Via Koblenz: Take the RE2 train from Frankfurt Airport to Koblenz, then transfer to the RE1 train to Trier.
